My Heart Burns For You (the story behind the song)

The longer I walk with God and experience His goodness, grace and constant guidance, the more I fall in love with Him.  He never leaves; never forsakes.  It’s hard to even fathom that the God of the universe would want a personal relationship with us, but He absolutely does.  He is pursuing us and that relationship every hour of every day; weather we realize it or not.

Even when it feels like He is a galaxy away, we can rest in knowing that nothing can separate us from His love.  Romans 8:38-39 says 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,  39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As I sat down to write with my friend Tyler Vaughn he started singing this chorus that God had given him.  My Heart burns for You….All within me longs for You…. I loved it.  It reminded me of the early days of Fuzed Worship when we had no idea we’d be singing these songs all over the country.  We were just writing love songs to God.  And that’s such a beautiful place to be.  This song truly is just a love ballad to the lover of our soul.  It’s the cry of our heart as worshipers and writers.  Our heart burns with passion for all He is and for this amazing story He has swept all of us up in called the gospel.

Mark 12:30 and Psalm 63:3 really sum it up…. Mark 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  Psalms 63:3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

That’s really the heart of this song, to glorify God because of His love and faithfulness.

Let your love grow into a fire for Christ alone!
